Bonjour readers! As I'm writing this, there is precisely 3 hours until the Olympic Opening Ceremony...is everyone excited?? I must admit, I actually am looking forward to it. I only like certain sports (Tennis) and some athletes annoy me (Tom Daley) but it's taking place in my home country and I'm feeling so proud of Team GB!
As this is Britain we're talking about, something will almost definitely go wrong at the Opening Ceremony but hey, we'll laugh about it one day- lol and move on as my lovely friend Ella would say! I'm in suspense as to who will light the cauldron with the Flame, I'm still holding out for David Tennant! It's time law and the universe would implode so steal that torch, David!
I promised I would take some pictures of Emily's birthday meal, but I only got chance to take one and it turned out blurry...we had a really good time though! Emily liked her presents and the staff sang Happy Birthday to her, cowboy style! The food was lovely too, we all had a burger and fries, then Ella and I shared an Oreo ice cream sundae and Sasha and Emily shared a 'Brownie Temptation'. We all had a bit of Em's gorgeous birthday cake as well, yum!
Today I went into town then did a bit of baking with my mum and sister, I made an apple crumble and my sister made some buns with icing and chocolate buttons- my crumble was nicer! :P Now I'm settled in my place on the sofa in front of the TV, surrounded by various gadgets so I can Tweet away through the ceremony!
Tomorrow we're going to Bridlington on the East Coast for the day, but I'm a bit gutted as I'll miss Andy Murray's first match of the Olympics, if the Radio Times isn't lying to me!
Enjoy the Olympics everyone and have a good weekend!

Eden does stuff and forgets what day it is.
Well hello there readers! I'm sorry for the longer delay than usual between posts, I've been super busy what with finishing school for the summer and other things which I will tell you about now: on with the show!
Cast your minds all the way back to...well that failed, I can't even remember what day it is! A couple of weeks ago? Anyway, I was so nervous about my French speaking test and the awkward situation of being in a room that smells of stale coffee with my French teacher holding a bright yellow recording device in my face. Well that happened, but my actual speech went really well! I forgot a bit of it but I just carried on with what I could remember and I got an A!
After that was over, I felt so much more relaxed but I still had the mock interview to do before I could be properly excited about finishing school. Mine was at 9.25 in the morning which I was glad about so I could get it over and done with, but I had to miss part of my English assessment. I was supposed to be with interviewer number 9 but I ended up with number 13 (O.o) who was a guy from 'Turbo Technologies' called Frank.
He asked some really weird questions based on my application form, such as "Why such a large contrast between library work and legal work? "(the options I chose on my work experience form) I don't know, I'm just interested in them! I'd said that I liked reading on my form as well, and I told him that I liked reading classic stuff like Pride and Prejudice, but also sci-fi/fantasy as well, like The Lovely Bones, then he asked why such a large contrast between the two genres-how am I supposed to answer that, I just like those types of novel! The other questions were "What are your strengths/weaknesses?" and teamwork things, to which I lied through my teeth, mostly. I told one lie and then my whole life became one big lie and I sound like a compulsive liar (I'm not) so I'll shut up.
I got some really positive feedback overall though so I was pleased that it was finished! We had to dress up in the clothes that we'd actually go to an interview in, so I wore chinos and a blouse with heels that my mum lent to me, but they hurt my toes. I soldiered on though because I enjoyed strutting around!
The weekend after that, je suis allee au Durham avec ma mere, grandmere et soeur pour un jour! It was smaller than I was expecting and there were lots of drunk people wandering around because there was the Miner's Gala, but the cathedral was beautiful and I enjoyed having a walk around. I bought The Maccabees album and Bombay Bicycle Club's album for £10 from a scary woman in HMV, they are both really good! Especially The Maccabees, it's my kinda thing!
I had a relaxing Sunday at home after that, then there was just one more week of school to go! We found out our new form tutors for next year, mine is my History teacher who is hilarious but the form is full of chavs so I'll be sat alone in the corner, hiding. Yay. We also got our reports and grades, mine were a mixture of As and Bs so I'm pleased with that:-)
Enough chat about school, the rest of the week went without too many problems! On Friday we finished early so we got fish and chips and went to Ella's house, where we watched Tangled and started a whistling choir, as you do! Yesterday I watched Date Night which I hadn't seen before, but I found it really funny! I also ate too much pizza and chocolate but life's too short not to!
Today I went into Manchester to go shopping with Dad and Angie, pappa bought me a skirt to wear to Emily's birthday meal at TGI Friday's on Tuesday! I will post pics of that later on in the week, I'm really looking forward to it as we've bought her some cool presents and they do this gorgeous cake! Just hoping she's remembered to book the table...

In which I receive two mysterious letters...
Bonjour! I bought (well, when I say me, I mean my mum) a super speedy and sexy new dongle today, the first time it connected to the internet, I was just sat there like woooah, that's fast. Can't believe I haven't upgraded my dongle in four years. Anyway, geekery aside, I have the internet and I can actually move around! I believe this is a cause for celebration!
I also have another reason to party-I've been made a prefect!! I found out yesterday morning and it made my day:-) I'll tell you how I found out:
*Sat in class drenched from thunderstorm that started just as I walked out of the door, teacher hands Emily and I a letter each*
Me: "Why can't I open letters normally, it takes me forever! Ooh, it's actually addressed to me for a change!"
Emily: "I know, I wonder what it's about?"
Me: *finally opens envelope, reads letter* I'm a prefect!! Aaaaawww yay!! Are you??
Emily: Aaaaah, me too! Yaaaay I'm so happpyyy!
*hugs*
Teacher: "Let's have a round of applause for our two prefects!"
*nobody claps*
Me and Emily: "Don't bother clapping then, we'll remember this when we have chance to boss you around, haha suckerrrs!"
So that was that, I found out that Ella, Sasha and basically everyone I like are also prefects, but unfortunately we have to wait until next year to get our badges and ties, boo. But on the bright side, my CV now looks considerably better and I get to go to lunch early next year! I call this a win.
Speaking of winning, go Andy Murray! Hit Tsonga in the balls then won the game! It was a brilliant match overall though. I think tennis has the most comedy value of all the sports, the highlights of this game were slow-motion yawn guy and "More balls, please!" I think I'll miss the final tomorrow, but I'll keep up with the score on Twitter, I'm proud of Murray for getting to the final whether he wins or loses to be honest:)
On Thursday I got another letter saying I've won an award for 'subject excellence' at awards evening on Monday 16th, I assume it's for History as it's the only thing I'm actually good at. It's the first time I've won an award since Year 7 and I've put so much time and work into History this year so I'm very pleased!
I just want to get this week ahead over and done with, then I'm stress free!

I'm baaaack and haven't been drowned in mud!
Hello! I have returned into civilisation and appear to have missed everything! I found out that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are getting a divorce on the front of a newspaper at a petrol station on the way home, and Adele is pregnant! Plus there's a Doctor Who forum website:)
Soooo, Geography camp. I can safely say that despite how much I love my wellies (they're Hunters, how can't I?) I don't want to see them again for a while because I've been living in them for 4 days! As soon as we stepped off the coach, everyone grabbed their wellies out of their suitcases because the field looked like a swamp with a few tents in the middle! There was stagnant water in puddles on the top which absolutely stank and there was a stream running through the middle of the field. Lovely.
Our tent was huge, but it got a bit cramped with eleven people in it, plus two double airbeds and the mountains of luggage that everyone had bought! My suitcase weighed a tonne but didn't take up too much room in our corner. The highlights of the trip were the legendary line 'I'm only cutting my sausage!' and taking the piss out of Sophie's posh telephone voice. The low point was definitely getting caught in a storm and all my work getting soaked through and ripped, plus climbing up a giant hill in my heavy wellies for no reason.
Also Emily's anger is the funniest thing ever. Don't cross her or she'll throw a stone at you, swear at you or shine a torch in your face! Be afraid!
We were all so tired on Saturday morning from going to sleep and waking up at silly hours (going to sleep at half past eleven then waking up at five was the worst) we all ran to the minibus as quickly as we could! It took us ages to pack the tent away as we were trying to fit it in the wrong bag which was way too small, we must have rolled it up five times!
When I got home my mum and sister had made me a welcome home chocolate cake with giant white chocolate buttons on top- yummy and cute! I watched Harry Potter then I had a splitting headache so I went to bed and slept for 12 hours which was the longest I've slept in ages:)
Shortly before I left for camp my dongle broke which means I couldn't access the internet yesterday, but today I've managed to fix it a little, but I can't move or I'll have no connection! Hopefully I'll get another one tomorrow or at the weekend, but it's so awkward because there's this guy in the 3 store who fancies me! He knows what amount of internet I need as soon as I walk in and he always stares at me when I walk past the shop. Creepy!
I'm so glad I never have to go to camp again, and there's only three weeks of school left. I have to do a French speaking test then an English controlled assessment but the thought of the summer holidays is keeping me going! This time of year always goes ridiculously slow though.
I'd also just like to share my love for Wimbledon. I was so shocked when I found out that Rafael Nadal was out of the competition! I support Andy Murray but I know he'll just get to the semi-final then lose like he does every year. How can't you get your hopes up for our beloved yet moody Scottish tennis whizz? I could sit there watching matches for hours (and I do). I was especially proud of Murray when he beat that cocky American sod Baghdatis, he kept smiling and practically going '"ooh, look at how high I can hit this ball, everyone look at me and my tanned skin, oh yeah, I'm bossing this shit." Then he lost. Haha.
I'll post again sometime soon, hopefully with a new dongle so I can move around without losing my internet connection!

PS- Just discovered that this is my 50th post! Thank you so much to everyone who's read my little blog, virtual hugs and cakes coming your way! xxx
